LtCol Jonathan Sabado
LtCol Sabado is
a 7202, Aviation Command and Control Officer, with a designation as an Air
Support Control and Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Officer. He graduated and received his commission from
the U.S. Naval Academy in May 1998.
LtCol Sabado first served with 3d LAAD Bn
as the Battalion Training Officer and Platoon Commander, Bravo Battery from
1999-2001. He then transferred overseas
and was assigned to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) from
2001-2005. He served as a Platoon
Commander and Company Commander, Direct Air Support Center (DASC) Company with
Marine Air Support Squadron 2 (MASS-2), Marine Air Control Group 18
(MACG-18). LtCol Sabado also served as
the MACG-18 Detachment OIC, HMM-262, on the 31st Marine
Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) from 2002-2003. During this overseas assignment, he deployed
in support of Joint Task Force 535, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief
support operations in the Philippines, and Operation UNIFIED ASSISTANCE 536, which
provided direct tsunami relief support to the country of Indonesia.
He was then re-assigned to the Marine
Security Guard (MSG) Program from 2005-2008 as the Executive Officer for Region
3, East Asia and the Pacific, headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand.
Following his assignment to Thailand, LtCol
Sabado returned to CONUS and deployed as an individual augment on a year-long
deployment to Iraq with the Ministry of Interior Transition Team,
Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq. Upon his return, he assumed duties as the
Executive Officer for MASS-3, 3rd MAW from 2009-2011.
LtCol Sabado received orders and
transferred to Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California during the
summer of 2011 and graduated in March 2013 with a Master’s of Science in Defense
Systems Analysis. His graduate thesis is
titled Equitably Distributing Quality of
Marine Security Guards (MSG) Using Integer Programming with the intention
to develop alternative methods for assigning MSGs to regions for
decision-makers at Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG).
LtCol Sabado reported to HQMC, Programs and
Resources and served under the Director, Programs, Analysis, and Evaluation
Division from 2013-2015.
He then transferred to and assumed his
present duties as the MCESG Executive Officer in June 2015.
