Screening Mission

MSGs serve throughout the world to ensure the safety of Diplomatic Missions to conduct diplomacy abroad in a safe environment. The MSG Screening Team recruits, advertises, and screens Marines fit for MSG duty. The screening team is available to help Marines from any Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) learn more about MSG duty and answer questions.

Becoming an MSG includes benefits such as obtaining a Top-Secret security clearance, accelerated promotions, and secondary education opportunities. MSGs live overseas at one of our 180 plus U.S. Embassies and Consulates, a personally and professionally rewarding experience exclusive to MSGs. The future of the MSG Program includes new post activations and continuing our honorable service with the Department of State.

Marines are screened through the Reenlistment Extension Lateral Move (RELM) request submitted to Career Planners. The screening team travels to major Marine Corps Base worldwide, so take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about MSG by attending an MSG brief at your base. The Roadshow schedule is posted in the form of a MARADMIN on Mcesg.marines.mil. View latest message

For any Marine who has submitted a RELM, contact the Screening Team right away. Do not miss out on this opportunity; we have Marines on duty standing by from 0800 – 1630 EST, Monday - Friday to screen Marines. MSGs have been protecting American Embassies for over 65 years and will continue this mission for many generations to come.
