Colonel Clifford Magee

Colonel Magee graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a degree in Computer Science and was commissioned in August 1999. Following introductory schools, he was designated a Communications Officer.

In 2001 he was assigned to Okinawa, Japan, where he served as a Platoon Commander, an Executive Officer for a Company, and as an Aide de Camp to a Commanding General.

In 2004, Colonel Magee transferred to 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (1st ANGLICO). He deployed to Iraq twice as the units Communications Officer and Convoy Commander.  After this tour he attended Expeditionary Warfare School.

In 2008 he served with the Commander of the Pacific Fleet in Hawaii and was assigned to a Joint Task Force that deployed to assist with humanitarian operations after an earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan. Following this tour, he attended Command and Staff College and received a Master’s.  His thesis received an award and was published. 

In 2012 he received orders to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group to PACOM and CENTCOM.

In 2015 he became the Operations Officer for Officer Candidates School (OCS) in Quantico, VA. During this tour he oversaw the training of over 5,000 candidates spread over 20 training companies.

In 2017 Colonel Magee received orders to the 1st Marine Division. While serving at Division, he was selected to attend The Naval War College.

In 2020 Colonel Magee assumed command of Marine Corps Embassy Security Group Region 2 (Middle East and Southwest Asia).

In 2022 he was assigned to the staff of 2d Marine Aircraft Wing in Cherry Point North Carolina.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2nd award), and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
