LtCol Jacob “Jake” Hoskins was born in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Ben Eielson Jr/Sr High School in Fairbanks, AK in 1995 and joined the United States Marine Corps in May 1997. Upon completion of basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, LtCol Hoskins served eight years as an enlisted Marine at various duty stations, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant before receiving his commissioning through the Enlisted Commissioning Program in 2005.
LtCol Hoskins attended Officer Candidate Course in January 2005 and The Basic School (TBS) in March 2005. Upon graduation from TBS, LtCol Hoskins was assigned the MOS of Military Police Officer and reported to the Military Police Basic Officer Course in Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
After completing the Military Police Basic Officer Course in February 2006, LtCol Hoskins reported to MCAS Beaufort, SC to serve as the Operations Officer where he deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in January 2008 to Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In March 2009, LtCol Hoskins reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Region 2 Abu Dhabi, UAE as the Executive Officer, overseeing 21 Marine Security Guard detachments spread throughout the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
In May 2012, LtCol Hoskins was selected to attend the Expeditionary Warfighting School in Quantico, VA. Upon graduation in May 2013, LtCol Hoskins reported to MCAS Iwakuni, Japan as the Provost Marshal. During his tour in Iwakuni, LtCol Hoskins was selected to attend Command & Staff (Blended) Course in Okinawa, Japan and graduated in May 2016.
In July 2016, LtCol Hoskins reported to the Inspector-Instructor Staff of 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, St. Paul, MN as the Battalion Operations Officer. In July 2019, LtCol Hoskins assumed duties as the Deputy Branch Head, Law Enforcement, Investigations and Corrections Branch, Plans, Policies and Operations (Security) at the Pentagon. In July of 2021, LtCol Hoskins assumed command as the Inspector-Instructor of 4th Law Enforcement Bn.
After a successful three-year command tour, LtCol Hoskins was assigned to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group as the Group Executive Officer.
LtCol Hoskins holds a BA in Human Resource Management from Saint Leo University and a MBA from the University of Texas.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with gold star in lieu of 4th award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with gold star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with gold star in lieu of 4th award), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
