LtCol Chad J Pimley

LtCol Pimley was born on August 11, 1986, in Renton, Washington. He attended high school at Scappoose, Oregon, and graduated from Scappoose High School in 2004. LtCol Pimley attended University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho and graduated in 2008.

Upon commissioning, LtCol Pimley reported to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, and graduated in November 2009. In January 2010, LtCol Pimley attended the Field Artillery Officer's Basic Course (FAOBC). Following FAOBC, he was assigned to Battery A, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines as a Forward Observer and promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant in 2010.

In December 2011, LtCol Pimley was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Helmand Province, Afghanistan from April 2011 to November 2011 as a Forward Observer and Civil Affairs Team Leader. In January 2012, he was assigned to Battery A, 1/12 as the Fire Direction Officer, Headquarters Platoon Commander, and later the Executive Officer. In October 2012, LtCol Pimley was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator for 3rd Marines.

In May 2013, LtCol Pimley was assigned as a Series Commander for Company B, 1st Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD, San Diego, CA. In July 2014, he assumed duties as Company Commander of Bravo Company. The following year, LtCol Pimley was assigned as the Battalion Operations Officer for 1st Battalion.

In August 2016, LtCol Pimley was assigned to 1st Battalion, 11th Marines as the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator for 1st Marines. In March 2017, he assumed command of lndia Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines. In November 2017, he was assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer of 1/11. In January 2018, LtCol Pimley was assigned as the Operations Officer of 1/11.

In August 2018, LtCol Pimley reported to 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III MEF in Okinawa, Japan. He was promoted to the rank of Major in October 2018 and held the billet of Senior Watch Officer and Current Operations Officer of 3d MEB. In July 2021, LtCol Pimley reported to United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA. Upon completion of the school in June of 2022, he graduated with aMaster's of Military Studies.

In July 2022, LtCol Pimley reported to 1st Battalion, 10th Marines as the Logistics Officer for the battalion. The following year, he was assigned as the Executive Officer for 1/10 in April 2023 and remained until May 2024. In May 2024, LtCol Pimley was assigned to II MEF Command Element as the Deputy Fires Effect
Coordinator, Targeting Officer and remained until May 2026.

On 3 June 2026, LtCol Pimley assumed command of Region 2, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group.

LtCol Pimley's awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (with Gold Star in lieu of second award), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Gold Star in lieu of second award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Gold Star in lieu of second award). Additional education includes Intermediate MAGTF Information Operations Practitioners Course with additional
MOS of 0510.
