Colonel Rod Brewster

Colonel Brewster is currently the commanding officer of Marine Corps Embassy Security Group.

Colonel Brewster was born in Michigan and commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 1992 after graduating from the University of Michigan.

Colonel Brewster reported to III Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa Japan in 1993.  Follow on tours included Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Warfighting Development Integration Division in Quantico (1997-2000); Headquarters Marine Corps Installations and Logistics (2000-2003); 2d Marine Logistics Group  (2003-2006);  Marine Corps Forces Central Command (2006-2009); and 2d Marine Aircraft Wing at Cherry Point, NC (2009-2011).  Colonel Brewster assumed command of the Marine Corps Financial Management School on 1 July 2011.  In June 2014 Colonel Brewster reported to Programs and Resources Department, Headquarters Marine Corps as Deputy Director, Budget and Execution Division.

Colonel Brewster is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Science in Financial Management (Distinguished Graduate) and the Eisenhower School at National Defense University with a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy (Distinguished Graduate).   Additionally he is a graduate of The Basic School, Financial Management Officer Course, Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, the Advanced Logistics Operations Course, and the Air Force Air War College.  

Colonel Brewster’s operational experience includes deployments with Joint Task Force Haiti in 2004 for Operation Secure Tomorrow as the J-8; and a deployment with 2d Marine Logistics Group (Forward) in 2005 for Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Deputy G-4.  His personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Colonel Brewster is committed to setting the conditions for Marines to thrive during their MSG duties and conclude the program better physically, mentally and morally. 

Colonel Brewster is married to the former Ms. Suzanne M Juno of Flushing Michigan and they have two children: Daniel (17) and Kathleen (15).
