First Sergeant Grace S. Gomez

First Sergeant Gomez was born in Los Angeles, California in 1991. She enlisted in the Marine Corps in October 2009 and completed
recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, South Carolina, where she was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class upon graduation. In January 2010, she reported to Marine Combat Training, Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

Following her graduation in February, Private First Class Gomez attended the Basic Supply School in Jacksonville, North Carolina where she received training as a 3043, Supply Administration Specialist.

In April 2010, Private First Class Gomez reported to 1st Supply Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group (MLG), Camp Pendleton, California, for duty as a Supply Administration Specialist. While assigned to 1st MLG, she was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal, also holding the billet as an administration clerk at Initial Issue Point (IIP), providing direct logistical support to units across the West Coast. During her tour, she deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010 and 2012.While deployed, Lance Corporal Gomez played a critical role in delivering logistical support to U.S and allied foreign military units, ensuring mission readiness.

Upon return from deployment, Lance Corporal Gomez was promoted to the rank of Corporal and was assigned as the Supply Company legal clerk, a Company of over 500 Marines. On 1 August 2013, Corporal Gomez was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, holding the billet of Legal Chief for the Supply Company.

In March 2014, Sergeant Gomez reported to Headquarters and Support Company, Weapons and Field Training Battalion (WFTBN), Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. There, she served as the Supply Chief, Uniform Victim Advocate (UVA), Company Ground Safety Officer, and the Single Marine Program Representative.

In April 2016 Sergeant Gomez reported to Drill Instructor School at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Upon graduation, she
was assigned to November and Oscar Companies, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, where served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. Sergeant Gomez was promoted to Staff Sergeant in January 2017.

In June 2019 Staff Sergeant Gomez reported to Headquarters and Service Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 7, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, Twentynine Palms, California. She served as the S-3 Training Chief, Jump Team Commander and Watch Chief during major exercises such as ITX, MWX and Steel Knight. While at CLB-7, Staff Sergeant Gomez also attended several training schools, including the Combat Skills Training School and the Basic Machine Gun Course. Additionally, Staff Sergeant Gomez served as the
Chief Instructor for multiple Lance Corporal Seminars and Corporal courses. In March 2021, Staff Sergeant Gomez deployed with CLB-7 to Australia in support of Marine Rotational Force - Darwin, serving as the Supply Chief. Staff Sergeant Gomez was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in September 2021 and continued to serve as the S-3 Training Chief and Battalion Force Fitness Instructor.

In July 2022 Gunnery Sergeant Gomez reported to Drill Instructor School at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, where she was selected to serve as the Senior Drill Instructor for the historic first female platoon in the 1st Recruit Training Battalion at MCRD San Diego. Assigned to Charlie Company, Gunnery Sergeant Gomez also served as a Chief Drill Instructor. In August 2023, Gunnery
Sergeant Gomez was hand-selected to serve as the Company First Sergeant at Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion. In August 2024, Gunnery Sergeant Gomez reported to Headquarters Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion to serve as the Company Gunnery Sergeant and Operations Chief. In May 2025, Gunnery Sergeant Gomez was promoted to her current rank of First Sergeant.

In June 2025, First Sergeant Gomez reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG), where she currently serves as the Region 1 Senior Enlisted Leader for Region 1, Eastern Europe and Eurasia. She currently resides in Frankfurt, Germany.

First Sergeant Gomez's personal awards include: the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award.
